La Trinidad: an historic neighbourhood in Málaga
La Trinidad is an historic neighbourhood in Málaga on the west bank of the Guadalmedina River. It lies between the historic centre and the Bailén-Miraflores District. It is also to the north of El Perchel. The frontier between La Trinidad and El Perchel is drawn by Calle Mármoles and Calle Martínez Maldonado.
La Trinidad is known for its traditional Andalusian streets, local atmosphere and colourful urban art. In recent years, several murals have appeared throughout the neighbourhood, adding a contemporary layer to one of Málaga’s historic districts – as can be seen on the pictures below.

Above you can see the neighbourhood of La Trinidad, Calle Ribera del Guadalmedina, and the headquarters of the Archicofradía de la Expiración, which also houses a museum displaying religious treasures, including processional thrones and ceremonial regalia. It lies next to the Guadalmedina River, which runs through the centre of Málaga and flows into the sea. The river remains dry for most of the year due to the low amount of rainfall.

Calle Marmoles is a busy shopping street with a lot of restaurants and coffe bars too which separates La Trinidad with the El Perchel neighbourhood.

Narrow Andalusian streets with tiled houses and flowerpots
Malaga’s La Trinidad is known for its narrow Andalusian streets with tiled houses, flowerpots, and a down-to-earth atmosphere.

I once rented a small house in La Trinidad for a few days—called “La casita de la abuela” (“Grandma’s little house”) —on Pasaje Briales. It was very cozy and could be considered a sort of two-story apartment.

Don’t forget to visit Málaga’s urban art gallery, featuring a large number of works that can be found in the La Trinidad neighborhood.
