Recuerdos Orientales by José Fernández Ríos on the Antonia Guerrero Square in Estepona

“Recuerdos Orientales” (Oriental Memories) is a 600 m² mural on the Antonia Guerrero Square by hyperrealist José Fernández Ríos. It refers to fortresses such as the Alhambra in Granada and the Alcazaba in Málaga. It also represents the mountains of Málaga and the Sierra Nevada in Granada.

Born in Orcera in 1962, José Fernández Ríos (also known as José Ríos) is a Spanish hyperrealist painter and sculptor. His work includes urban landscapes, public sculptures and large murals on building façades. In Estepona, he created “Recuerdos Orientales,” considered the largest mural in Spain.

Mural “Madre Amorosa” by Francisco Alarcón in Estepona

Above: mural “Madre Amorosa” (“Loving Mother”) by the painter Francisco Alarcón. Born in Estepona in 1972, Francisco Alarcón is a painter, sculptor and urban artist. He is known for his large-scale murals and public artworks, often with a strong social focus. He also teaches and gives art workshops.

Below, you can see the mural “Tradiciones” by Manuel Moreno Guirao on Calle Mallorca. It won second prize at the 3rd International Mural Competition in 2024.
